PHOENIX – a little present from St Nicholas

St Nicholas Evening, this is a Holiday in Germany. Children place their boots on the doormat, and St Nicholas drives along the streets in the evening and fills these boots with sweets and little presents. With him goes his helper Knecht Ruprecht with a birch to spank naughty children – I am sure he won’t have any work with you! Knitters are just nice and friendly people!

I have a little present for your knitting boot – the PHOENIX SHAWL. This one is not swing-knitted™, everyone will be able to knit it.

Our Ravelry group will be 2 years old this month, so it’s time for a little birthday present for all who help to make this group so wonderful and lively – and to all who watch us and our Swing-Knitting™ and did not try yet.

We hope to be ready with translating the SWINGY PHOENIX by this weekend – Nada is working very hard in it. The Swing-Knitting™ Workshop 7 will finally go online then, both in German and English, containing exciting new Swing-Knitting™ elements.

I wish you a nice cuddly woolly St Nicholas Evening!

Hurray!

“Swing-Knitting” is registered trademark now!

A thousand thanks to Brigitte Elliott who brought this on its way and organized everything!

“Sugar Baby Love” is online!

for € 3.90 as PDF download

This is Sugar Baby Love, the second of 2 Swing-Knitting Sock Workshops in English!

No previous knowledge in Swing-Kntting is needed to knit the socks from the series “Swingy Feet”. You will learn everything you need in the two introductory workshops. After that I will show you some models in various sizes for women, men and children. It will be easy for you to knit those with the knowledge you get here.

The Swingy Feet Workshop 2 is 20 pages long, with 50 step by step photos. It is the sequel to Swingy Feet Workshop 1 and takes the knowledge of Swingy Feet 1 for granted!

The 1st introductory workshop has taught you that part of Swing-Knitting technique you need for the socks. You learned about stanzas and pauses in Swing-Knitting, and by Swinging a square piece for a sock leg you knitted and learned in one – all the Swing-Knittingtechnique you need for lots of coming socks!

The 2nd introductory workshop teaches how to do the special construction of Swingy Feet Socks. You’ll knit the lower foot and Swing-Knit the upper foot, joining both “on the go”. Step by step I’ll lead you through this sock and its Swing-Knitting.

Depending on your knitting needle size and gauge, this sock will be size 38-40 (US F 7 1/2 – 9) or size 40-42 (US F 9-10).

With the knowledge of Workshop Swingy Feet 2 you will be able to knit all socks from my German book Swing-Socken even if you don’t understand German.
And I’ll give you your own designs – completely new sock models will make music with your knitting needles!

Updates

Sorry for the mistakes Swing-Knitting Workshop 3 still had!

And THANK YOU to all who helped me to  find and correct these mistakes.

The English Workshops 1 and 2 were completely correct, the Errata for Workshop 3 you can find here:

Errata Workshop 3

Ravelry will send you an update notice, and you can download the Errata sheet and the corrected PDF for free.

I HOPE this will be the last Errata update, but if you still find mistakes, please send me a note heidrun@magischemaschen.de.

Hottest news about Swingy Feet Sox !!!!!!

Here it is, the hottest news!

You will get your own Swingy Feet Sox!!!!!!

I have decided to give you your own socks, in English!!

It will start with this one

SSS SuperSedeSox

With this sock, you’ll learn that part of Swing-Knitting, that is involved in the Swingy Feet – in order to knit all the further sock models, you’ll have to do this one first!
You don’t have to know anything about Swing-Knitting when you start this sock, all that is needed will be included in the two Workshop socks, SSS is the first one!

Nada is already working on the translation, while I am still working on the knitting part.
We are very confident that the SSS workshop will go online by the end of this week.

Swing Sox – good news!

A lot of people asked me about the book Swing Sox in English …

I can tell you now that I am in concrete negotiations with my publisher! On Friday, I’ll know more, and I’ll tell you.

How long it will take to print the book, I don’t know yet, but I promise to do my best!

Do you know our Ravelry group?

There you’ll find the hottest news on Swing Socks in English!

And please look at the German thread “Swing Socken” to adore  the pictures of the beautiful socks our group members already made!

Now it’s Friday evening in Germany, and NO call from my publisher ….

Christophorus Verlag didn’t give me a call with concrete information as they have promised – so I’m sorry that I can’t tell you more now!

I already have an offer of an international print on demand publisher that looks quite good but puts forward a lot of open questions for me – as for the time it will last until publication.
Here in Germany we have “Karneval” that is Mardi Gras, so I think I can’t tell you anything new before coming Tuesday earliest.
I’m very angry with my publisher for not keeping their promise!

First Advanced Swing-Knitting™ Workshop!

This is the first Advanced Swing-Knitting Workshop!

While swing-knitting a “wild” scarf with pockets, you’ll learn a lot of new stuff:

• How to swing-knit in stockinette stitch and how to use “target pins” to do this more easily
• A new way to provisionally cast on
• How to double your stitches without pain and get the second set of stitches onto a circular needle in one step
• How to swing-knit stanzas in two or more colors
• How to make different types of tuckings as pause elements

The scarf is done in two-colored brioche stitch, both pockets are swing-knitted in a “wild” patterning – that’s how the Thing got its name :).

Step by step I lead you through the whole process, on 71 pages with 131 photos. All stanzas, pauses, tuckings, the joining of the pockets to the scarf on the go, two-colored brioche – every step you see in detail. You can decide whether you’ll follow my tutorial and knit the exact garment or you’ll use my explanations as input for your own wild creations.

To understand this Workshop, you must have mastered at least Swing-Knitting Workshops 1 to 3.

There is only a German version yet – I’ll try to translate it as soon as possible!
As we are already working on the next Workshop, it may take a little longer this time – thank you for your patience!

As soon as the English version is online, I’ll tell you!

Swingy Hitchhiker in English is online!

I just published the English version of Swing-KnittingWorkshop 5 “Swingy Hitchhiker” in my Ravelry Shop.

Thank you so much to Nada for turbo-translating :)!

The Workshop has 102 pages and about 100 photos and illustrations.

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!

Happy New Year!

I wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for 2012 – may it become a year that brings you health, happyness and always some stitches on your needles!
